20 emergency health kits sent to Equatorial Guinea

Following the explosion of an ammunition depot in Bata, the economic capital of Equatorial Guinea, the Tulipe Association participated in the humanitarian response by sending 20 kits of emergency health products. The large-scale operation was organised by the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The disaster, which killed more than 100 people and injured nearly 700, devastated all infrastructure within a 10-kilometre radius, much to the despair of local rescue teams.

Emergency health kits to treat thousands of injured people

The Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs coordinated the response to this crisis. This included chartering a flight containing a mobile health post to treat 250 seriously injured people. Emergency and paediatric medical trunks supplied by Tulipe made it possible to treat a thousand injured and sick people. Equipment to combat Covid was also sent, as well as tents and cooking kits for disaster victims.

How can I donate health products with Tulipe?

In order to better anticipate the design of health kits, the Tulipe association, founded in 1982, calls on its member health companies several times a year. These companies donate health products in response to specific needs in the field. Because every minute counts, medical equipment and medicines are supplied in less than 48 hours. These health donations comply with both WHO recommendations and the specific requests of the beneficiary NGOs. In a crisis situation, the association adapts and the frequency of requests to companies can be increased. In 2020, Tulipe intervened in 15 countries and distributed 35 tonnes of medical products to 400,000 patients.
