Tulipe becomes a partner of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs

Michel Ginestet, Chairman of the Tulipe Association, signed a partnership agreement with Jean-Yves Le Drian, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, on 19 December 2017.

This agreement now links Tulipe, the emergency and international solidarity association for healthcare companies, to the Crisis Centre. This is the operational unit of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This unit has been coordinating France’s response to humanitarian crises abroad since 2008. With this signature, Tulipe becomes the main source of medical products for the Crisis Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The Ministry’s humanitarian action unit will ensure the proper delivery and use of these products in health crises around the world. The agreement signed between Tulipe and the Ministry follows an initial partnership initiated last September. At that time, Tulipe made a donation, via the Crisis Centre, to Dominica following Hurricane Maria in the Caribbean.

Emergency health kits made available in record time

Tulipe is a non-governmental organisation founded in 1982 in response to the need for medicines and medical and surgical equipment in international humanitarian aid. It federates donations from healthcare companies in order to respond urgently to the needs of populations in distress.
populations in distress during acute health crises, natural disasters and conflicts. Its intervention takes the form of providing emergency kits of new health products, adapted to local needs, at very short notice.

In 2016, 36 tonnes of healthcare products were entrusted to 22 partner NGOs operating in countries in crisis, thanks to the mobilisation of the 50 healthcare companies or structures that are members of the association.
