The Tulipe association takes part in the “A boat for Ukraine” operation

With an exceptional donation of 14 tonnes of health products, Tulipe and its member healthcare companies are taking part in the solidarity operation “A boat for Ukraine”. The operation was launched on 28 September 2022 in Marseille, in the presence of Catherine Colonna, the French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs.

The crisis and support centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs is coordinating this unprecedented maritime shipment with the support of the CMA CGM Foundation, which, after chartering an A330 cargo plane on 21 March carrying 55 tonnes of donations (including 9 tonnes from Tulipe and its member healthcare companies), is this time making its ro-ro vessel the Aknoul available. More than 1,000 tonnes of humanitarian goods will initially be transported to the port of Constanţa in Romania, before being handed over to stakeholders in Ukraine, in conjunction with the French embassy there.

Operation “A boat for Ukraine”: 1000 tonnes, including 25 tonnes of medical aid

Tulipe and its member healthcare companies have donated 25 tonnes of medical aid, including emergency and resuscitation medicines and 14 tonnes of health products. A medical vehicle equipped with a mobile radiology unit enabling examinations to be carried out in the field will also be sent. The other donations also meet the priority needs expressed by the Ukrainian authorities and combine contributions from the public and private sectors. For example, the Civil Security Department is donating 15 fire and rescue vehicles that have been brought up to Ukrainian standards, including 5 second-hand vehicles donated by fire and rescue services and 10 new vehicles; 8 motorised semi-rigid watercraft; and 19 tonnes of equipment (rescue, clearance and protective equipment).

Food aid

Food aid is also leaving with this exceptional convoy: 60,000 food rations (two meals per ration), 48 tonnes of prepared meals and 13 tonnes of milk. Emergency rehabilitation equipment will be taken on board the ro-ro vessel, including 5 generators, building materials and tarpaulins. Finally, France is providing more than 200 metres of emergency bridges that will be used for rapid rehabilitation operations on Ukrainian civil infrastructure: 3 prefabricated “bailey” type bridges purchased from Cerema and 3 modular metal bridges purchased from the French company Matière (one of which will be transported by road from France).
