Tulipe has just transferred a tonne of medical products to the French Red Cross. This humanitarian action is part of Tulipe’s health initiatives in Lebanon. Since the intensification of conflicts in the region in 2011, Lebanon has welcomed 1.19 million Syrian refugees at the height of the crisis, making it the region’s leading host country. Today, a quarter of the Lebanese population is still made up of Syrian refugees. In addition to this situation, which is difficult to manage, there is a major economic crisis which began more than a year ago, putting a heavy strain on the country’s health system. For several months now, the entire Lebanese population, especially the most disadvantaged, has been affected by unprecedented shortages of medicines.
In this context, Tulipe’s donation is intended to supply the French Red Cross health centres that provide support to refugee populations in difficulty in the coastal towns of Tripoli, Jounieh and Jal Ed Dib. Around 9,000 people are affected by this donation.
