Against a backdrop of increasing crises around the world, the Tulipe association has contributed to two humanitarian operations to improve access to healthcare for the Gazan population. The association, which has the status of a humanitarian pharmaceutical establishment and was founded in 1982, is preparing to take part in a third operation before the end of the year. Focus on our partner, Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective, which has made a significant contribution to support Tulipe’s work in Gaza.
A significant contribution
“We have been working in Gaza since October with our preferred partner for this type of humanitarian operation: the Crisis and Support Centre of the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. We are also working with the Palestinian Red Crescent, which is distributing health products to the local population. The significant contribution of Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective has been essential to the success of this support for the people of Gaza”, explains Alexandre Laridan, Director of Operations for the Tulipe association.
A donation of 20,000 treatments
Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective recently donated 20,000 treatments to Tulipe, which will be flown to the Middle East in a new airlift in the next few days. Our partner had already contributed to the two previous airlifts organised by France and Europe to support the people of Gaza.
Since the creation of the Tulipe association, Sanofi has been involved in its development and has supported Tulipe’s actions. In May 2022, Foundation S – The Sanofi Collective, Sanofi’s new philanthropic entity, was launched. Since then, Foundation S has supported the Tulipe Association’s main operations, in particular those in support ofaccess to healthcare in Ukraine, Lebanon, Turkey and Syria during the earthquakes of February 2023.
Foundation S: Working closely with Tulipe
“Since the launch of Foundation S, we have worked closely with Tulipe in our response to humanitarian crises. Our partnership has enabled us to respond rapidly to numerous emergency aid operations. This collaboration and our actions alongside key players in the humanitarian sector enable us to deploy the power of the collective. In this way, we can increase our impact and leverage philanthropy with the most vulnerable populations tenfold”, says Vanina Laurent Ledru, Managing Director of Foundation S.
“Faced with the frequency and evolution of humanitarian crises, we have had to rethink our approach to our actions. Our response has had to evolve to take better account of the new needs of vulnerable populations. This change has been accelerated by the crises raised by climate change, which is becoming the greatest public health challenge. This is why we have chosen this area of commitment, which is also at the heart of our humanitarian actions”, concludes the organisation’s CEO.
